The Musée des Arts et Métiers celebrates Halloween with all the curious! From October 27 to 29, 2023, come and take part in the various workshops and activities at Stranger Sciences, the not-to-be-missed All Saints' Day event.
Yes, Halloween is all about pumpkins, costumes, candy, haunted houses... But it's also a great time to visit your favorite museum! During the All Saints' Day vacations, and to celebrate Halloween, the Musée des Arts et Métiers in Paris is offering a range of unusual, exciting and unexpected workshops that should appeal to the whole family.
Come and enjoy themed workshops and tours during the Stranger Sciences event. The curious and the clever can put their wits about them and their thirst for knowledge to good use, with these fun and educational activities, which transform the whole museum into a den of monsters of all kinds!

Off with the Halloween broom!
Mia the mouse hates Halloween. Her best friend Zoé the spider is determined to help her forget the dirt and make her love this crazy day. But is it really a good idea?
Duration: 30 min, activity included in admission price.
Children must be accompanied by at least one adult.

- 7pm - Frankenstein, ciné-concert
Come and discover or rediscover a cinema classic in the exceptional setting of the church of Saint-Martin-des-Champs: James Whale's Frankenstein, released in 1931 and adapted from the famous book by Mary Shelley. Get ready for an electric evening!

- 2pm to 5pm - Fantômaton workshop
Les Fantômes and the Musée des Arts et Métiers offer two afternoons of workshops to create your own luminous character from your own silhouette, projected live. Everyone leaves with their own animated character and animated GIF sent by e-mail.

- 11am - Spiritualist photography: Mumler and his ghosts
One day in 1861, William Mumler, an American photographer, discovered by accident that spirits could be photographed... Can you? Come and discover the technique of photography and understand how, thanks to the double-exposure process, strange ghostly figures can appear.

- 2pm - Bertillon: crime in the lens
In 1879, French criminologist Alphonse Bertillon perfected the Bertillonnage process. Using photography, he revolutionized crime scene investigation and criminal identification. Discover the photographic technique and the beginnings of forensic science through Bertillon's precious testimonies.

- 3pm - Frankenstein, the electric myth
Mary Shelley, creator of Frankenstein's monster, was just a child when an Italian scientist attempted to bring a body back to life using electricity. Could this public experience have inspired her to write her novel? Come and find out how electricity works, and discover the dismal experiments it has spawned.

- 4pm - Robertson's phantasmagorias
At the very end of the 18th century, the ancestor of the horror film appeared: a spectacle of light projections that brought ghosts and skeletons to life. Join us for a magic lantern demonstration and experience the thrill and magic of phantasmagoria.
