Halloween takes over the capital this Thursday, October 31, 2024, to the delight of mystery and thrill seekers. All over Paris, revelers will be treated to scares big and small, as they take part in the many outings that await them for the occasion. From costume parties to immersive experiences and other events, Halloween is a time to fill up on scary goodies, at the heart of terrifying myths and legends.

Museums also take part in this great seasonal celebration. How would you like to conquer a haunted museum for a special evening? This is the experience offered by the Musée Rodin in Paris, with its "Welcome to Hell" evening planned for the very evening ofHalloween. On October 31, 2024, this charming museum will be transformed to offer an immersive journey to meet the museum's ghosts. The starting point for this chilling cultural adventure? La Porte de l'Enfer, the impressive work by Auguste Rodin that can be found in the famous sculpture garden.

When you set eyes on this vertiginous creation, over six meters high, it's hard not to feel intimidated. This powerful work depicts over 200 figures intertwined in a macabre ballet, with familiar figures including the Thinker, the Three Shadows and the Kiss. This monumental sculpture is in the spotlight this Halloween evening, so you can discover it as you've never seen it before.

  • Les chants de La Porte de l'Enfer
    Theatrical performance
    La Porte de l'Enfer occupies a special place in Rodin's creative output. Inspired by Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, the sculptor created over two hundred figures and groups, forming a pool from which he drew throughout his career... An actor invites you to discover a few songs from Dante's major work, in a performance illuminated in front of La Porte de l'Enfer.

  • "Revealing shadows" at the Galerie des Marbres
    Collective silver photography workshop Rodin's marbles are among the most famous pieces in the museum's collection, with the greatest models on display in the Galerie des Marbres. Inspired by the shapes and stories present in Rodin's work and in the Galerie des Marbres, explore the practice of argentic photography, between light and shadow.

  • The dark undergrowth
    Immersive experience
    The only way to reach the ninth circle of the underworld is through the undergrowth. Observe the sculptures by moonlight and lantern light, but beware: the path is full of traps and guarded by two evil crows.

  • "Les grondements du Tartare" at Bassin d'Ugolin
    Danced performance
    The ninth and final circle of Hell contains humans who have committed the worst treasons and sins. They have found refuge on the edge of the sculpture garden, in the heart of Ugolin's Basin. Keep your eyes peeled for details of this grotesque dance of desperate souls.
    Conceived and performed by the UNITY company.
    Every 15 minutes from 7pm to 10.30pm
    Cross the undergrowth to reach the Bassin d'Ugolin.

  • Murmurs, spirits and tales from Hôtel Biron
    Storytelling performance
    Throughout his life, Rodin reinterpreted certain figures originally designed for La Porte de l'Enfer, giving them a new lease of life. Let yourself be carried away by the voices of the Hôtel Biron and discover all their passions: from tormented love to raging madness, torment and desire.
    Conceived and staged by La Compagnie des Épices.

  • "Disparition inquiétante" within the exhibition Corps IN⸱VISIBLES
    Collective writing workshop
    An ownerless dressing gown is on display at the Musée Rodin. Who might it have belonged to? For a few seconds, or for a longer period, come and advance the investigation to find the missing body: imagine in your turn the identity of the mysterious owner of this garment. Invent characters, encounters, stories and twists and turns that, put together, will form a great collective story.
