Compulsory masks for everyone in public transit, to fight against coronavirus! Paris deputy mayor for transport Christophe Najdovski announced that starting this Monday, as confinement is lifted, masks will be available on sale in every metro and RER stations.

In the fight against coronavirus, Christophe Najdovski, Paris deputy mayor for transport, announced on BFMTV that masks will be available on sale in every metro and RER station starting from May 11th. A statement that goes slightly against what has been announced before, naming that masks will be given to users in public transit.

So, as to know if a mask can be given in the metro if we could not get one, the Paris deputy mayor explains: “No, there will be on sale in metro and RER stations” he says. He continues: “The RATP and the SNCF plan to sell with vending machines” and adds that he highly recommends “not going to public transit without a facemask from Monday”.

A statement that should change nothing as for the mask distribution since the latter also explains the City of Paris chose to “give masks to Parisians starting this Monday” and invites local authorities “to take responsibilities as for the people”. Note that hand sanitizer distributors will be set in every metro and RER station, as well as in bush shelters starting from Monday. The many commuters going back to work this Monday May 11th can be reassured.
