Released in 1948 in France, the famousMonopoly board game has not aged a bit! Modernized many times, from the franc to the euro, from the physical to the video game, the franchise has managed to stay interesting and many households still have it in a closet. The aim of the game is to become the biggest landowner in Paris and ruin your opponents by making them pay rent when they come across one of your properties, more or less expensive depending on the neighborhood. Rue de la Paix, located near theGarnier Opera House, has always been considered the most expensive in the game. But it has since been dethroned!
In the days of the francs, the Rue de la Paix, a bare lot, was worth 3500 francs, while the Avenue Foch was priced at 2600 francs, behind the Avenue des Champs-Elysées, also at 3500 francs. Today, according to the prices set on Airbnb by landlords for rentals, the famous street has dropped from the top spot in the ranking, to the benefit ofAvenue Foch, in the 16th arrondissement! According to the concierge GuestReady, it costs 270 euros to rent an apartment there for one night, while the other two, the only blue cards, are rented at 200 euros. Next is the rue de Vaugirard, which is far from the most expensive on the plateau, and the rue de Breteuil!
The real estate market has indeed changed in nearly 70 years, even if these streets are still among the most expensive in the capital.
