The forecourt of the Eiffel Tower and all three floors of the monument are closed to the public this Saturday, August 12, following an evacuation due to a bomb threat shortly after midday. According to BFMTV's information from a police source, a team of bomb disposal experts has been dispatched to the site. It will therefore be impossible to approach the Eiffel Tower forecourt for the next few hours, or indeed for the rest of the afternoon.
For the moment, we don't know the extent of the danger, but we'll keep you informed.The Société d'Exploitation du Monument (Sete) has stated that the current procedure is usual for this type of case, although it is rare, and that the evacuation is above all a precautionary measure.
