Get out your hats, scarves and gloves, because it's likely to be cold from this Sunday, January 12, 2025, over a large part of France, including the Île-de-France region. As reported by La Chaîne Météo, the mercury continues to yo-yo. At present,"the cold air is holding out over the British Isles, where it's snowing, and in Scandinavia, where it's down to -30°C". But beware, as this cold air will eventually descend in the second half of the week, and the weather is likely to change in the French skies this weekend and next week.
As a result, the cold should tend"to push southwards and descend towards our regions north of the Seine", adds the Chaîne Météo, which specifies that this cold"will not be excessive", but that"the wind will accentuate the chilly feeling".
So, what can we expect in Paris and the Ile-de-France region? At the time of writing, Météo France is forecasting a drop in temperatures in the Paris region from Friday January 10. The first negative temperatures are expected to be felt on Sunday morning, January 12, 2025.
At dawn, Météo France forecasts a mercury between -2°C and 0°C. On Sunday, temperatures will rise back above 0°C, but will remain low. Expect between 1°C and 2°C in the afternoon. Sunday night is also expected to be cold, with temperatures between -1°C and -3°C.
On Monday January 13 and Tuesday January 14, 2025, the cold will be even more intense, with temperatures between -2°C and -4°C on Monday morning, particularly in the south of Yvelines and the south of Seine-et-Marne. This could be the coldest day of the week. Tuesday morning will see little change, with the mercury fluctuating between -1°C and -3°C. On Wednesday January 15, temperatures will remain particularly low, between -1°C and 2°C. We'll have to wait until Thursday to see the mercury rise slightly, back above 0°C in the morning.
So, with temperatures like these, should we expect snow to return to Paris and the Île-de-France region next week? Snow lovers will have to wait and see, as the weather is expected to remain calm and dry throughout the week. From Monday onwards, we're even expecting sunshine across much of the Paris region. "This development will bring dry weather to our country next week, allowing rivers, which are currently often high, to recede", announces the Chaîne Météo. However, clouds could return to the skies over the Paris region from Wednesday January 15 onwards, but without bringing any precipitation.
Obviously, this trend for the week ahead needs to be confirmed over the coming days.
