    ### Sculpture and Memory: A Cross-Cultural Reflection between France and Argentina

After five sessions in the classroom or at the museum, the 6th-grade students from Blanche de Castille Middle School in La Chapelle-la-Reine are showcasing their projects on the role of sculptures as symbols of remembrance and as means of expressing ideas and values through art.

This interdisciplinary approach, blending visual arts, history, and art history, centers around the equestrian statue of General Alvear, unveiled in Buenos Aires in 1926.

  • Highlighting approximately fifteen sculptures by Antoine Bourdelle

    ### A Stroll Through Antoine Bourdelle’s Sculptures

Around fifteen sculptures will be illuminated in vibrant colors. The spotlight will be on the equestrian statue of General Alvear, along with his four allegories, as part of the commemoration of its unveiling in 1926 in Buenos Aires. This monumental piece was commissioned from Bourdelle in 1912 by an Argentine government panel to mark the centenary of the country's independence.

  • Argentine Tango Turns the Garden into a Dance Floor
    Saturday, May 23, 2026 — 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM

    ### Argentina’s Heritage in the Footsteps of General Alvear

In front of the equestrian statue of General Alvear, composed of five sculptures — one of which was unveiled in Buenos Aires in 1926 — Tango Unione offers a public demonstration and a tutorial by professional dancers.

As a social dance, sultry and alluring, Tango originated in the working-class neighborhoods of Buenos Aires in the late 19th century. Romantic and full of passion, Tango creates a delicate, feverish connection through improvisation; its steps are not pre-set to be repeated sequentially but are performed in unpredictable directions by both partners. Born away from fancy salons, within the South American communities emerging from slavery, Tango has always been a bold expression of the desire for freedom. Today, Tango stands as a vibrant symbol of a rich, living culture — a generous and authentic art form that celebrates the joy of being oneself.

The Tango Unione company was born from the meeting of Irene Moraglio, a dancer and former elite gymnast, and Patrice Meissirel, an eclectic artist from street theatre, dance, and choreography.
