The Maison des Métallos is a very special place, located in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. Built in 1881 to house the Gautrot musical instrument factory, the building changed function and occupant over the decades, before becoming a historic monument. Today, this cultural venue, owned by the Paris City Council, is an unusual arts center, focusing on live performances and sharing with its neighborhood.
The Maison des Métallos always offers an eccentric and festive program... And it's no exception for this year's Fête de la Musique. On Friday June 21, 2024, the cultural venue opens its doors to us free of charge, and invites us to celebrate the event from 9pm alongside Loïc Lantoine & Marc Nammour. On the menu? A stage project combining chanson and hip-hop. Please note that this concert is free of charge, but must be booked in advance.
### Two magnificent singer/songwriters combine their words and scans for a stage project at the crossroads of a certain idea of chanson and reinvented hip-hop.
The project's initiator, Marc Nammour, traces the thread of this beautiful collaboration:
"I've known Loïc Lantoine on record since his first album. His writing is one of the few that touches me in French.
We look at the world from the same vantage point, proud and trembling.
Proud of our modest social origins, proud of how far we've come, proud not to give in to stupidity or the easy way out, proud to live with an outstretched hand before a closed fist. And trembling, because we are full of doubts and uncertainties. Because we're constantly on the lookout, and have more questions than answers. Because we fully embrace our ultra-sensitivity, our vulnerability at a time when saying so is seen as an admission of weakness.
And we know that our society doesn't make room for the weak. It wants us to be tough, strong, self-confident, with the look of a winner. It loves a winner's laugh. Here, we give glory to the losers!
The Fête de la musique is a popular celebration that has been held every June 21 for over 40 years in France! The event was initiated by François Mitterrand's Minister of Culture, Jack Lang, as well as Maurice Fleuret and Christian Dupavillon. The three men wanted to showcase all genres of music, and all willing artists, to promote the diversity of the arts.
A few years later, the Fête de la Musique is as popular as ever, invading every corner of the capital, including the Maison des Métallos on June 21. You can also find out about other events in the area on Sortiraparis.com.
