The first Fête de la Musique was launched on June 21, 1982 by Jack Lang, then Minister of Culture, Maurice Fleuret and Christian Dupavillon, architect-scenographer and member of the Cabinet. At the time, they wanted to launch a major popular event enabling all musicians to play and make a name for themselves during a festive evening.

For more than 40 years now, the Fête de la musique has been bringing music in all its forms to life every June 21 with a rich and varied program. While the Fête de la Musique promises to be an eclectic affair in Paris, there's no shortage of musical goodies elsewhere in the Île-de-France region, such as in Guyancourt. This Yvelines town is once again taking part in this popular and festive event on June 21. Here's the program!
