To celebrate the Fête de la Musique, the Fanfare Au Carreau, led by Fidel Fourneyron, will play pieces from its repertoire in front of the Carreau du Temple, in the pedestrian Rue Eugène Spüller, on Tuesday June 21, 2022.
Twice a month, the Fanfare au Carreau brings together some fifty amateur musicians and/or those in training. This amateur brass band, resident at Paris' Carreau Du Temple since 2015, will take advantage of the 40th anniversary of the Fête de la Musique to perform original compositions by Fidel Fourneyron, trombonist and tuba player with the Orchestre National de Jazz, who also directs the ensemble.
This merry band is not to be missed on June 21, in the open air and in top form in front of the Carreau du Temple. Join us at 8:00 p.m. for this festive, free concert in Paris's 3rd arrondissement.
The Fête de la Musique celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. The first Fête de la Musique was launched in 1982 on the initiative of the French Ministry of Culture. That year, the Ministry of Culture's studies and research department conducted a major survey of French cultural practices. It revealed that five million people, including one young person in two, play a musical instrument. So Jack Lang, architect and scenographer Christian Dupavillon, a member of his Cabinet, and Maurice Fleuret came up with the idea of a major popular event to enable all musicians to express themselves and make themselves known. The very first Fête de la Musique was launched on June 21 1982, the symbolic day of the summer solstice.
