Nuit Blanche 2023 promises to be an unforgettable event, and with good reason! This annual celebration of contemporary art, which transforms the City of Light into an immense open-air museum, is an opportunity for Parisians and visitors alike to discover a myriad of artistic creations in the most unusual locations. With a rich and varied program, the Nuit Blanche offers everyone, young and old, a unique artistic experience, where art is both accessible and surprising.
At the heart of the event, on the eastern tip of the Île Saint-Louis in the 4th arrondissement, is the installation Sunset in Paris by Ludmila Rodrigues and Mike Rijnierse, two artists fascinated by human perception and its construction. Based in The Hague, Netherlands, Rodrigues and Rijnierse have been collaborating since 2011 to create works in which the public plays an active role, exploring their own sensations and constructing their own mental image of the work. Sunset in Paris is a monumental floating installation that recreates the everyday experience of sunset in the urban landscape of Paris, stretching this ephemeral moment throughout the night.
The work offers a spatio-temporal experience that is both contemplative and disturbing, inviting the public to relearn how to see, hear and feel. The sun, transformed into a luminous, brilliant sculpture, sets eternally over the Seine, at the tip ofIle Saint-Louis, creating a dreamlike, poetic atmosphere. Supported by LVMH and with the participation of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Sunset in Paris is undoubtedly one of the must-see installations at Nuit Blanche 2023. Come and enjoy this unique experience, where art blends with the urban landscape in the most beautiful of ways.
