We're already thinking about the start of the new school year and the time when we'll have to return to the benches... Fortunately, there are films that will accompany us through this painful stage, including Première Année, out on September 12, 2018, which plunges us into the world of a first year of university medicine.

After Hippocrate, released in 21014, director Thomas Lilti once again turns his attention to the world of medicine, and this time it's not in the hospital world that he takes us on board, but at the previous stage: that of studying medicine... And more specifically, during First Year, the most dreaded of all. Once again, the cast includes up-and-coming actor Vincent Lacoste, alongside William Lebghil, star of Kev Adams ' Soda series and most recently seen in the excellent Sens de la fête!

A slice of life to discover from September 12, 2018!

Synopsis:

Antoine starts his first year of medical school for the third time. Benjamin arrives straight from high school, but quickly realizes that this year will be no walk in the park. In a fiercely competitive environment, with hard days of classes and nights dedicated to revision rather than partying, the two students will have to work hard and find the right balance between today's trials and tomorrow's hopes.

Review :

Première Année (First Year) is a feature film that confronts us with the harsh reality of everyday life for medical school students, and the absurdity of a system that neither helps nor promotes students. It's a system that also serves as a backdrop for director Thomas Lilti's deeply moving, violent and often touching apprenticeship film, but also the story of an unconditional friendship, made up of highs, but also (and unfortunately) lows.

The film is sincere and dynamic, with fast-paced scenes of revision, classes and exams, and it manages to keep us glued to our seats for its entire duration. On the casting side, the Vincent Lacoste/William Lebghil duo work wonderfully well, giving an overall performance in tune with the times. The editor's favorite, without a doubt...
