Our review of Sonic, The Movie (2020):
Sonic is a family action film that's sure to please kids! We learn more about the childhood of the little hedgehog of extraterrestrial origin at supersonic speed, and witness a few touching scenes with our little hero, who is completely isolated on Earth and yearns to have friends.
It's a shame, though, that there's only one reading level for parents, who may have been expecting a little more depth in the script or a little more elaborate humor. Of course, Jim Carrey gets the job done as the wacky super-villain, taking grown-ups right back to the 90s, when he played The Mask or Ace Ventura.
In any case, the kids have fun, and that's the main thing.
