The galactic western is back! After several episodes of scripted wanderings, The Mandalorian returns to its first love with this episode 5, named "The Pirates".
While the Mandalorians continue to enjoy their tranquility, the city of Nevarro, dear to Din Djarin, is attacked. This is an opportunity for Din Djarin to help his friend Greef Karga, and perhaps at the same time to offer a new land to the exiled Mandalorians .
After five episodes in fits and starts, this season 3 finally seems to have a goal, that of giving the Mandalorians back their unity. And for this, it is not our hero Din Djarin who is assigned, but Bo-Katan. This character seems to be the main attraction of this third season, so much so that it is no longer clear which of them the title The Mandalorian refers to. Din Djarin, as well as Grogu, are no longer the main characters of the show, and it is questionable whether they ever were since the beginning of this season.
This adds confusion to the story, which struggles to find a stable anchor. Now that we are in the second part of the season, it is more than time to decide! What stands out in this episode is that by multiplying the appearances of well known characters from the Star Wars lore (with characters from The Clone Wars, Rebels, and others), The Mandalorian seems to want to set itself up as a new central pivot of this universe.
Unfortunately, it will take more to achieve this goal. See you next Wednesday for episode 6!
