Sortiraparis: It's almost your first movie and you start with Indiana Jones, one of the most expected blockbusters of the year, screened in Cannes in world premiere. How do you feel?
Ethann Isidore : I feel great. It's a dream come true and I can't believe it. Cannes is a festival I've been following since I was a kid. And Indiana Jones, it's a saga I've been watching since I was a kid. And now, to think that I'm part of it, it's crazy, I can't believe it.
And to start a career with Harrison Ford, it's huge! Did he give you any advice ?
E.I.: He's a great guy. He gave me a lot of advice. They are really simple and effective advices: not to look at the camera, to remain natural, spontaneous. But they are advices that we do not forget because it is Harrison Ford who gives them to us (laughs).
You play Teddy, who is the third member of the trio of heroes. What does your character bring to this team?
E.I.: Teddy is a street kid in Tangier. He will find himself embarked with Indiana Jones and Elena [le] in an adventure to find the Dial of Destiny. And in fact, he's a funny kid who tries to act like an adult, but at the same time, we feel that he's still a kid and that he doesn't have everything to his advantage either.
With such a beginning of career, do you think that you will rather go towards a French or American career ?
E.I.: I don't know. I like both. I love American film, just as I love French film, and I'll see what the future holds. And I'm very happy already to be able to play in Indiana Jones.
According to you, what was the necessity of this fifth part?
E.I.: This is a fifth part that will present Indiana Jones under a new angle, so we will find him in a universe where we are not used to find him: in 1969. In the middle of the space race, a period where archaeology is not at all at the center of the interests of humanity. We will find a disillusioned Indiana Jones, but who must return to the adventure and take his whip and his hat to leave one last time.
How did you end up on this project?
E.I. : I started the cinema quite young, but with short films and small series, notably on TF1. And one day my agent called my mother to tell me that I had to go to a casting in Paris for a big American film. I didn't know it was Indiana Jones. And then a few days later, my mother tells me that I have to go to London to cast with the director James Mangold. So I go through the casting and they call us afterwards to tell me that I'm in. And it's crazy, it happened so fast, we didn't realize it!
Have you seen the film ?
E.I .: I discovered it tonight and I can't wait. I want to see it! I think it's going to be great because James Mangold is a great director. He's made nothing but good movies so far.
Which one is your favorite ?
E.I.: I hesitate between Logan and Le Mans 66. Logan is one of my favorite superhero movies. And in Le Mans 66, the chase scenes are very well staged.
Are there any stars on the level of Harrison Ford that you would dream of playing with ?
E.I.: Wow, there are plenty! I would dream of playing with DiCaprio, De Niro too, Al Pacino, all those who end up in "ino" ... There are also directors with whom I would love to work, including Kubrick. But it's going to be a bit complicated (laughs).
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is expected on June 28 in theaters!
