Les Chèvres ! is a comedy orchestrated by Fred Cavayé, who also wrote the screenplay alongside Sarah Kaminsky. The film stars Claire Chust, Dany Boon and Jérôme Commandeur in an absurd yet irresistible tale. To be (re)discovered on VOD for purchase on June 20 and for rental on June 24, 2024.
At the heart of this feature-length film, Fred Cavayé invites us to rediscover the courts of another era, when animals themselves could be called to account before the law. A premise as original as it is amusing, providing the backdrop for an unexpected story.
The synopsis plunges us into 17th-century France, a time when justice had very particular customs. We follow the adventures of Maître Pompignac, a lawyer with little recognition among his peers, who believes he has finally found the case that will launch his career. He decides to take up the defense of Josette, an innocent young woman accused of murdering a marshal. But the surprising twist in the case lies in Josette's identity, which is none other than a goat.
The opposition between Maître Pompignac and his adversary, the redoubtable Maître Valvert, adds an extra dimension to the plot, highlighting the challenges and absurdities of the judicial system of the time, while weaving a humorous plot that promises to captivate viewers.
Les Chèvres ! looks set to be a must-see comedy of 2024, combining history, justice and wicked humor. A film that should appeal to all fans of French comedies and original stories, served up by a choice cast and meticulous direction.
