Mom and Dad are getting divorced. More importantly, Mom and Dad both get super promotions, each in opposite corners of the world. To be free and to protect the children's future, one of them has to give it up and stay in France. But... how can you say no to a dream job, especially when one of them is already starting to annoy the other? The aim: to get the children to choose the other parent on their own. The method: be unbearable. The film Papa ou Maman, starring Marina Foïs and Laurent Lafitte, and directed by Martin Bourboulon (Les Trois Mousquetaires), airs this Friday, July 28, at 9:10pm on M6.
Our verdict
While we weren't expecting much, Papa ou maman surprises us at every turn and has us howling with laughter. Marina Foïs and Laurent Lafitte, in fine form, portray two perfectly successful, responsible adults who suddenly turn back into immature children to get promoted. The gags are born of their malice towards their own children... And the hilarity always comes from shock and surprise at their perverse ideas.
Because the script is daring, because it's hard-hitting and because the pace is perfect, we have a great time: the film is a real outlet for our frustration. Because, as we keep saying, it's extremely difficult to reconcile an active professional life with family life, and Mom or Dad explodes when faced with so much pressure and goes crazy. And it's an absolutely delightful show.
