Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Le Louxor has been enthroned among the cinemas of Paris's 10th arrondissement since its extensive renovation in 2013. Listed as a historical monument since 1981, this cinema with its stunning Egyptian decor boasts 3 projection rooms. The large Youssef-Chahine room, named after the Egyptian film director, contains 342 seats in an impressive decor with two balconies. It has been completely renovated in keeping with its original neo-Egyptian decor. A meticulous examination of archives was also carried out to recover the original spirit of the place and restore hieroglyphs and silhouettes of women. Even the starry ceiling of the second 140-seat auditorium recalls the starry vaults of Egyptian tombs.
The building, which is accessible to people with reduced mobility, offers visitors a bar on the second floor and a terrace on the third floor, with a unique view of the Sacré-Cœur. A place to relax before or after a movie, Le Louxor's bar serves light meals and artisan wines.
In addition to its atypical architecture, the Louxor - Palais du Cinéma offers a diversified program of films, from national releases to arthouse films, as the cinema is classified in this category. But that's not all! Young-audience screenings, ciné-concert, previews, ciné-club, opera... Le Louxor is multiplying its activities for the general public. In short, a place to discover or rediscover!
Located in the Barbès district of Paris, there are plenty of nice little places to go after a good movie. For example, just opposite the cinema is the Brasserie Barbès. On the same street, you'll also find the Bouffes du Nord theater and La Cigale concert hall. A 10-minute walk will take you to the famous Sacré-Coeur Basilica, or to the Ice Kube cocktail bar!
