This is news that should put to rest any concerns about Microsoft buyingActivision - and the Call of Duty franchise. The American giant announced on Twitter this February 21, 2023, through the voice of its president, Brad Smith, that the popular video game saga among gamers would soon land on Nintendo Switch. An arrival made possible by a binding 10-year contract signed by both parties, namely Microsoft and Nintendo.
We've now signed a binding 10-year contract to bring Xbox games to Nintendo's gamers. This is just part of our commitment to bring Xbox games and Activision titles like Call of Duty to more players on more platforms. pic.twitter.com/JmO0hzw1BO

"We're committed to providing equal long-term access to Call of Duty on more gaming platforms, providing more choices to more players and more competition in the video game market," says Brad Smith. This proposal was originally made when Microsoft boughtActivision, the game's publisher, as explained by our colleagues at BFMTV. A takeover that made Sony - which produces the PS5 - worry that the franchise, popular on PlayStation consoles, would only be released on Xbox.
This announcement should reassure European, American and British regulators. As for when the first Call of Duty will be released on Nintendo Switch, we'll have to wait a little longer to find out, but there's no doubt that the franchise will attract Nintendo players, who have been waiting for this type of software for a while.
