Maison Saint Laurent inaugurates an iconic, trendy new venue, open Wednesday to Sunday, in Paris's 7th arrondissement. And no, it's not a new luxury ready-to-wear boutique, but a unique cultural experience where fashion meets art in all its forms. Named Saint Laurent Babylone, this new hybrid spot, part bookshop, part art gallery and part record store, embodies the quintessential aesthetic of the label, with a chic yet relaxed spirit.
The address, nestled at the crossroads of rue de Grenelle and rue des Saints Pères, pays homage to the emblematic Sèvres-Babylone district, once dear to the hearts ofYves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé.
As you may have guessed, Saint Laurent doesn't just dominate the catwalks: it now occupies our bookshelves and walls with style and panache. In this new space, imagined by Anthony Vaccarello, the Maison's artistic director, art lovers will be delighted by the variety of books, ranging from Saint Laurent Rive Droite special editions to volumes on key artists such as Juergen Teller, Pablo Picasso and even Spanish filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar.
Between the shelves lined with fine art books, the hand-picked magazines, the canonical selection of vinyls (including those from the brand's fashion shows!) and the trendy merchandising, every detail exudes style and elegance.
Saint Laurent Babylone is a veritable laboratory of trendy culture, where readers, music lovers and art aficionados can meet up, relax in one of the showcase's designer armchairs and be inspired by the avant-garde spirit of the Maison. With its monthly exhibitions highlighting new artists close to the brand's universe, vernissages, book signings and DJ sets, this new space promises to be the new hangout for fashion and culture addicts in Paris!
