Attention Japanese culture fans! In 2024 , Paris will host a beautiful Kodō (" heartbeat " or " children of the drum ") show. Mark your calendars! The Kodō collective is due to present its new show entitled"Warabe" on Friday March 1, Saturday March 2 and Sunday March 3, 2024 at the beautiful Salle Pleyel. Note that the show goes on sale on July 20 at 10am.
If you don't already know them, the troupe gave its very first show in 1981, at the Berlin Festival. Since then, several members have left while others have arrived, but the troupe continues to live and perform in Japan and the rest of the world.
With over 6,000 concerts to its credit, the troupe has evolved its instruments and its music. Discovering and listening to the sound produced by these drums is always impressive, making each performance memorable.
For the record, the kodo was invented in the 1950s by jazz musician Daïhachi Oguchi. He suggested that Shinto monks, who use percussion to summon the gods, jazz up drums of all sizes on the shores of Lake Suwa, an ancient taiko score. Today, kodo is one of the world's most prized Japanese arts, and Japan is home to 8,000 taiko groups formed over the past thirty years.
To discover this musical phenomenon and their new show"Warabe", join us on March 1, 2 and 3, 2024 at the Salle Pleyel in Paris. With"Warabe", the musicians go back to the drum's roots to create a brand-new work in which each taiko establishes a link between childhood and the rhythm of the drums.
