Escales d'Ailleurs Festival at Château de Plaisir, a program of free shows and concerts

The Escales d'Ailleurs Festival awaits you this Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Château de Plaisir en Yvelines. More than 10,000 people are expected to attend this free, open-air cultural event. Click here for the program!

This Saturday, June 8, 2024, we're off to the Escales d'Ailleurs Festival at the Parc du Château de Plaisir in the Yvelines department. From 3pm to midnight, the park lights up and welcomes you to the 20th edition of this festival. It's a cultural event not to be missed, combining music, circus, street arts, games, dance and world cuisine. What's more, admission is free!

Concerts:

  • 3:30 pm - Cour des communs: Chorale des collèges (songs from around the world)
    Students from the Blaise Pascal and Guillaume Apollinaire schools will perform songs on the theme of world cultures.
  • 4pm - Théâtre Robert Manuel: Jean-Jacques Lemêtre (sound journey)
    Jean-Jacques Lemêtre, composer of music for the Théâtre du Soleil, instrument inventor and master luthier, is an internationally recognized genius. He invites you on a sonic journey through time and space, from the Paleolithic to the present day.
  • 5:15pm - Cour des communs: Ensemble caribéen (world music)
    The Plaisir Conservatory offers a selection of Cuban and Latin music to get you dancing!
  • 6pm - Esplanade du canal: Pamela Badjogo (afro-pop)
    Gabonese singer Pamela Badjogo has established her musical identity with a bubbling cocktail of afro-pop, Bantu-style highlife and afrobeat, immersing us in the effervescence of Central African nightlife.
  • 7pm - Cour des communs: Heida Bjorg & the Kaos (world, pop, jazz)
    Between klezmer, rock, electro and world, an improbable mix of Icelandic culture and Central European timelessness, Heida Björg has given birth to a gentle chaos that has been turning hearts and heads around the world for over ten years.
  • 8pm - Esplanade du canal: Delgres (Creole blues rock)
    Somewhere between New Orleans and the West Indies, Mississippi and the Caribbean, Tinariwen and the Black Keys, Delgres offer a powerful blues, neither Frenchy nor imported, sung in Creole. On stage, his raw, generous, sincere and elemental energy ignites the audience.
  • 8:45pm - Cour des communs : La Global, intercontiental ball (world music) Orchestrated by high-flying musicians, this ball is a real invitation to travel. Popular songs rub shoulders with dances from the Caribbean, Europe and South America, creating an exceptional show with a summery flavour.
  • 10pm - Esplanade du canal: Sergent Garcia ( salsamuffin ) Don't miss the headlining concert of this 20th edition! Sergent Garcia has been making Europe and North and South America sway irresistibly for 25 years. The term "salsamuffin", which he coined, condenses the fusion of rumba, ska, reggae, dancehall and Latin and Afro-Caribbean rhythms, the result of his research into the musical heritages of Mexico, Cuba, Jamaica, Colombia... Caliente!

Strolling:

Between 3.15pm and 11.30pm, the Compagnie Tac O Tac will enliventhe aisles.

Between 4:45pm and 9:15pm, Compagnie Caramantran takes you on a tour of its extraordinary gardens.

At 7pm, the Compagnie Les Grandes Personnes will present a giant puppet show accompanied by the Franco-Serbian brass band Ziveli Orkestar.

Dance:

Local dance associations and the Conservatoire will be taking to the château stage to present their varied choreographies, between 4pm and 6.30pm .

  • 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm - From 2 years - Festive ring : Carrousel TitanosCarrouselcagneux, the incredible Titanos is born from the (art)ccumulation of materials half stolen, half recovered, wildly assembled. A delightfully regressive attraction that deals a fatal blow to the fixed image of the merry-go-round! The Titanos zozos project children and humans into their crazy universe: a crazy fairground atmosphere guaranteed.

  • 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm and 6:30 pm to 8 pm - Ages 6 and up - Anneau des fêtes: Imperial Trans KairosWelcome aboard! The doors close automatically and there's no turning back. Don't pull on the wires, don't touch the lamps, don't put your feet on the seats. Don't throw anything out of the window, except at the invitation of the crew. Tchoo-Tchoooooooo! This train will serve the Gorges de la Dèche. Move away from the edge of the platform! The Impérial Trans Kaïros will depart on track 2 from Plaisir, Escales d'Ailleurs... for Chatanooga!

    Follow the adventures of puppets Bibi, the intrepid little whale at the bottom of the ocean, and Croco-pas-comme-les-autres in the Amazon rainforest. An invitation to travel, in images and music.

  • 4, 5.30pm and 7pm - Esplanade du canal - Hand Hop
    Hand Hop is a call to seize the freedom to dance wherever we please, an invitation to continuous movement in the face of imposed rules and norms. The challenge is to combine Breakdance and object theater!

Exhibitions:

  • 3pm to 9pm - Under the Château's former restaurant: Orchid exhibition and sale
  • From 3 pm to 9:30 pm - Salle Armande Béjart : An exhibition of over a hundred musical instruments from around the world.
  • From 3pm to 9pm - Salle de l'ancien restaurant: Stamp exhibition on the theme of the Olympic Games.

In terms of transport, there are free shuttles to the Château from the Plaisir-Grignon train station. More information on the full program is available on the Plaisir website. Now that's a plan worth taking a detour for!
