Beethoven Wars is an original creation by French conductor Laurence Equilbey, and will take place at La Seine Musicale in Boulogne-Billancourt on May 23, 25 and 26. The show is an immersive space opera that promises an unparalleled experience.
Directed by Antonin Baudry, Beethoven Wars will feature a motion manga projected onto a giant curved screen on the stage of La Seine Musicale. The manga will deal with a struggle for peace, led by the music of Beethoven, performed live by over 100 musicians. The motion manga will have been created by mangakas, or manga artists, and a team of over 20 graphic designers, so that the experience can be enjoyed in both 2D and 3D.
The Beethoven Wars show is a blend of innovation and a return to the classical, with a futuristic approach to manga, while including the music of the famous German composer and pianist. Laurence Equilbey 's aim is also to bring classical music back into the mainstream, attracting a younger, more diverse audience. The space opera is scheduled to tour France and Hong Kong in 2025.
The motion manga tells the story of Stephan and Gisèle, living on a distant planet, who observe the end of a world devastated by war. We then witness a war between two enemy clans who embark on a space quest to be brought back to planet Earth. You'll be treated to fearsome intergalactic battles, set to the rhythm of Beethoven's music.
