The famous musical Les Demoiselles de Rochefortcomesto the stage of the Lido 2 Paris in a brand new production. Adapted from Jacques Demy's cinematic masterpiece and featuring the unforgettable music of Michel Legrand, the musical will be playing at the Lido 2 Paris from October 2, 2025, to June 21, 2026.
Faithful to the original spirit, the adaptation at Lido 2 Paris, produced by Jean-Luc Choplin, promises to immerse us in the retro ambience of the 60s, thanks to colorful sets and costumes. As a reminder, Les Demoiselles de Rochefort follows Delphine and Solange, twin sisters dreaming of leaving their hometown for Paris, in search of love and artistic adventure. Iconic musical numbers such as "Nous voyageons de ville en ville" (We travel from town to town) and "Chanson des jumelles" (Twins' song) will plunge you into the world of this cult work at the end of 2025.
The Lido 2 Paris, known for its grandioseshows , promises a promising staging, Jean-Luc Choplin having already produced Les Parapluies de Cherbourg at the Théâtre du Châtelet and Peau d'Ane at the Théâtre Marigny.
Our opinion:
Les Demoiselles de Rochefort has made a stop at the Lido 2 Paris, and believe us, Rochefort has never seemed so close to the Champs-Élysées! Under the gilded ceilings of the Parisian cabaret, Jacques Demy's cult film (1967) has been given a fresh coat of paint and a serious facelift. Faithful without being rigid, this stage adaptation dances between homage and modernity, led at a brisk pace by a troupe bursting with energy and joy. Between Michel Legrand's haunting melodies and the pastel-colored sets , you'll leave with a smile on your face and the refrains stuck in your head.
On stage, the Garnier sisters are brought back to life by Marine Chagnon (Solange) and Juliette Tacchino (Delphine), two opera singers with elegant voices, full of nuance and retro charm. A sunny duo as graceful as their illustrious predecessors, Catherine Deneuve and Françoise Dorléac. They still dream of love, music, and faraway places—and the audience dreams with them. And when the Chanson des jumelles(Song of the Twins) rings out, it's impossible not to hum along.
Director Gilles Rico has created a lively and mischievous production that modernizes the show while retaining the spirit of Demy. The performerstake over both the stage and the auditorium, drawing the audience into their tart comedy. It's lively, festive, and generous, a true hymn to youth and joy.
Alexis Mabille's costumes, in slightly faded colors, add a touch of retro chic to this story sung with enthusiasm and desire. In 2 hours and 20 minutes ( including a 20-minute intermission ), we travel through a sweet, rhythmic, and wildly aesthetic universe—enough to delight young and old alike, even if the youngest may find the journey a little long.
On the practical side, row E offers an ideal view, the air conditioning is quite noticeable (a light jacket is recommended), and refreshments cost around€6.50 for a soda. At the shop, the show poster (60x80) costs €20, the facsimile €25, and the postcard €1.50.
A classic revisited with verve and elegance—proof that Les Demoiselles de Rochefort hasn't aged a bit! A must-see!
