From May 29 to 31, 2025, the musical Mourir d'Aimer, les Amants Maudits de Mai 68 recounts a forbidden love story set against a backdrop of social protest at the Théâtre du Gymnase.

May 1968, a period of social and political upheaval in France, was also the setting for a love story that shocked public opinion. Mourir d'Aimer, les Amants Maudits de Mai 68 is loosely based on the forbidden romance between Emma, a French teacher, and Pierre, her high-school pupil, who want to live their love despite the conventions and prohibitions of the time.

    The comic opera Belle Lurette by Jacques Offenbach is set to be performed at the Théâtre du Gymnase Marie Bell in Paris, in an authentic reconstructed version. The production, directed by Yves Coudray and conducted by Laurent Goossaert, will run from January 9 to February 1, 2026. This presentation by Les Tréteaux Lyriques marks the first time in France that the work is performed as Offenbach originally envisioned, while also embracing a collaborative and artistically unified approach.
