Château de Cheverny never ceases to enchant. The Château de la Loire, beloved of Hergé (who used it as inspiration for the Château de Moulinsart), is bordered by a 100-hectare estate planted with trees and home to 4 remarkable gardens.
The Château is a beautiful 17th-century monument to visit, with many unique pieces of furniture and interior fittings remarkably well preserved over the centuries. The collection of arms and armor is a wonderful surprise, as is the library with its piano.
After the vegetable garden, the apprentice garden and the tulip garden, the garden of love offers a place of solace with 6 beautiful sculptures by Gudmar Olovson, created by the artist before his death and finally installed in the park's groves, along a 20-metre path on the edge of a pond.
Intertwined couples, embracing, but also a baby curled up in a giant hand, and two sisters looking at each other hand in hand, the idea of the family owning the place, the idea was to pay homage to life, to love of course, and to family.
For the family, the choice of artist was a logical one, Gudmar Olovson being a close friend. The artist had been working on the garden for years and explained, "This collection of sculptures represents a wish and a tribute to life and love. [...] These ideas, now presented in bronze, for the Eternal, are part of my life's work and embody a vision of my poetic reality."
A beautiful garden to discover, just two hours from Paris!
