We know Chartres by its famous cathedral, located on the route to Santiago de Compostela, and perhaps also by its festival of lights, Chartres en lumières, but more often than not, that's the end of it. Yet the Eure-et-Loir department is rich in bucolic landscapes, historic monuments and places of interest... The Chartres tourist office, C'Chartres Tourisme, is offering you the chance to discover all this for a few weeks in Paris!
So, from March 21 to April 7, 2024, the Chartres tourist office is offering a number of events entirely free of charge to introduce Parisians for a day or for ever to the beautiful culinary, cultural and natural heritage of this city less than two hours by train from the Montparnasse station. What's on the program? You'll be able to sample local specialities such as beers, pastries, goat's cheese and the famous Chartres pâté, as well as immerse yourself in the life of a medieval stonemason or stained-glass artist throughvirtual reality experiences. For the occasion, the town of Chartes is also looking back at the people who have left their mark on the area: Marcel Proust, Raymond Isidore (creator of the Maison Picassiette, built entirely from recycled materials), Vincent Pascal (graffiti artist)...
From March 21, visit 51 rue de Turenne (Paris 3e), every day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., for a truly immersive tour of Chartres' heritage!
