The Panthéon is devoting an exhibition to the history of the deaf and sign language, entitled L'Histoire silencieuse des Sourds, from June 19 to October 6, 2019. A chronological plunge into this part of history, unfortunately little known to the public, from the Middle Ages to the present day, via the Abbé de l'Epée, Madeleine Le Mansois, Ferdinand Berthier and many other figures from French history, all deaf or having contributed to the struggle for deaf rights.
