Did you know? The ring road, once inhabited by the poorest of the poor, was called the Zone.

Before it became a huge thoroughfare around the capital for motorists, the Paris ring road had a less than glorious past. At the edge of the city, between Paris and the suburbs, this space was long nicknamed the Zone, the only place where the poorest could find housing.

After a 30 km/h Paris inner city, the Paris ring road will soon be limited to 50 km/h! Since October 1, the ring road has been gradually adapted, and from the 10th of the month, you'll have to slow down, because the speed cameras are on the scene!

Paris: the end of inter-files for motorcycles on the ring road with the switch to 50 km/h

The changeover of the Paris ring road to 50 km/h, which runs from October 1 to 10, 2024, marks a turning point for motorcyclists. With this speed reduction, inter-file traffic, which enabled two-wheelers to squeeze in between cars, will no longer be permitted on this lane. This experiment, extended until December 31, 2024, is in fact only permitted on roads limited to 70 km/h or more.

What will change on October 1, 2024: Parking, speed, gas, APL, pensions...

October 1, 2024 marks a number of changes in Paris and the Île-de-France region. The speed limit on the Paris ring road is reduced to 50 km/h, SUV parking rates are tripled, APLs are increased and small pensions are revalued. Other changes concern gas, the usury rate, and the opening of train ticket sales for Christmas.

If you're able to postpone your trip this Friday, July 26, don't hesitate! On the day of the opening ceremony, the Paris ring road may well be completely closed to road users.

Traffic: new car-pooling sign on the road - watch out for the fine!

There's a new sign on the road, symbolized by a white diamond on a blue background, and you could be fined if you don't obey it. Its purpose is to encourage car-sharing, with a reserved lane.

Night-time closures and summer roadworks on the Paris region ring road and other major roads

As with public transport, summer is the period chosen by the Paris region and the city of Paris to carry out maintenance and renovation work in the streets of the capital, on the ring road and on the main roads of the Île-de-France region.

Paris: closure of the northern ring road and the A86 motorway on Monday and Wednesday nights

Be careful if you want to hit the road on the nights of June 5 to 7, 2023, in the Paris region! The northern ring road as well as the A86 will be closed from 10pm to 5:30am, as part of the preparations for the Paris 2024 Games.
