If you're able to postpone your trip this Friday, July 26, don't hesitate! On the day of the opening ceremony, the Paris ring road may well be completely closed to road users.

This Friday, July 26, 2024 promises to be a difficult day for all those who need to get around the capital, whether on foot, by public transport or by car! Many metro stations are closed, while the area around the Seine is only accessible with a ticket or QR code. But on the roads of the Ile-de-France region, it's even worse, with a black day forecast for the region, and arisk of total closure of the Paris ring road!

Speaking on RMC, the French Minister for Transport, Patrice Vergriete, said that the ring road would be"particularly reserved for athlete traffic" to get them to the opening ceremony, making traffic very disrupted. After 10 a.m., it's impossible to know whether the ring road will be passable, as sensitive delegations and athletes' buses"must not remain at a standstill", for safety reasons.

It remains to be seen whether the Préfecture de Police will decide to close all or part of the Paris ring road this Thursday, July 25. In short, if you were planning to go on vacation, wait until this weekend and delay your departure, and if you work, like many people in the Paris region, you'll probably have to take other routes, because of this"event of the century in terms of public demonstrations".
