The FAMA - French American Mural Art - project is back in the capital for the Olympic Games, to celebrate sport and the link between France and the USA, strengthened by the handover between the Paris 2024 Games and those in Los Angeles in 2028. A large urbanfresco was thus created on a building in the 18th arrondissement, visible behind the REcyclerie, by artists Katbing and Kekli.
Linked by the double award of the Games, the two Olympic cities are multiplying their joint artistic and sporting projects, with seven events planned between now and the end of 2024. Here, the artists, Californian Katbing and Parisian Kekli, were chosen through a selection and consultation process by the residents of the 18th arrondissement.
They then imagined the work, mixing cheerful, colorful characters with animated objects, corresponding to the two artists' styles, on a manga page format, but 27 meters high! Katbing depicts various qualities of sport, such as strength and skill, as well as handisport, with a character racing in a wheelchair. Kekli focuses on new sports in each edition, with a baseball and a skateboard.
