Located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, the Place du Trocadéro-et-du-11-novembre is a must-see in Paris, thanks to its position. Indeed, the Trocadéro, as it is often called, faces the Eiffel Tower, offering a privileged view and a much sought-after photo spot from which to admire the Iron Lady.
The Trocadéro is bordered by the Palais de Chaillot, a monument built for the 1937Universal Exhibition, and now home to the Musée de l'Homme, the Musée National de la Marine, the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine, the Musée des Monuments Français and the Théâtre National de la Danse. Continuing along the palace, you can also enjoy theAquarium de Paris - Cinéqua. Great pieces of culture and heritage all in one place.
From the Parvis des Droits de l'Homme (or esplanade du Trocadéro), you can admire the Eiffel Tower. Descending from the forecourt, we discover the Trocadéro gardens, which lead us right up to the Eiffel Tower, offering a bucolic setting for local strollers.
The Place du Trocadéro is therefore very popular with tourists, but also with Parisians, attracted by its rich cultural and historical offering. The Trocadéro is also a regular venue for the events of Parisian life. Political meetings, popular festivals and sporting celebrations, demonstration routes... Over the years, the square has become a symbolic gathering place.
By the way, do you know where its name comes from? Place du Trocadéro commemorates the battle of the same name, which pitted French and Spanish royalists against Spanish liberals. On August 31, 1823, a French expeditionary force succeeded in capturing Fort Louis in Cadiz, Spain, ensuring victory for the royalists. The name"November 11th" is linked to the armistice of 1918, symbolizing the end of the fighting in the First World War.
Place du Trocadéro-et-du-11-novembre is served by metro lines 6 and 9 (Trocadéro stop), as well as by several bus routes.
