Bastille Day takes place on July 14, 2017. Even though the military parade is impressive on the ground, we like the airshow even more and you can hear it and see it even if you are miles away from Paris.
Traditionally, the Patrouille Acrobatique de France sets the ball rolling with an uncommon formation, announcing the coming of the air force and army’s parade. The opening parade features 50 aircrafts (Mirage 2000N, Mirage 200 RDI, Rafale B, Dassault falcon, 1E – 3F which are the most impressive) and will be accompanied by two F-22 “Raptor” and 6 F-16 furtive fighter planes from the United States Air Force Thunderbirds.
This call has been made to celebrate the historic cooperation between France and the US and more precisely to celebrate the USA agreeing to the Triple-Entente in 1917 joining France, the Russian Empire and Britain. Wing-commander Bruno Bézier, entrusted with the military parade program explains: “The cooperation with Americans and the commemoration of the Great War are this year’s governing principle within the French Air Force”.
