The national holiday of July 14, celebrated in homage to the storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789, is one of France's most spectacular and emblematic celebrations. Every year, the country dons its colors of blue, white and red to commemorate this historic event, with fireworks displays in every town and village, entertainment and traditional folk dances.
While July 14th always begins with theinevitable parade down theChamps-Elysées in Paris, there are plenty of other events on the program, particularly in the capital and the Île-de-France region, since July 13th is also a day of celebration every year! These include traditional firemen's balls, fireworks a day early and free concerts, entertainment and shows open to all.
La Mer de Sable, the family amusement park in the Oise département, takes you to the Far West, where you'll be immersed in a sea of sand, as the name suggests, for a great adventure with the kids. Fun attractions, thrill rides and shows await you, including a very special evening on July 13!
