Covid-19: Livinguard launches a “virus-destroying” cloth facemask thanks to polypropylenes

A mask destroying viruses and bacteria, this is what promises a Swiss Company, Livinguard, that will soon sell its Pro Mask in France. Its “self-disinfecting” technology makes it a mask than can be worn several days in a row without having to wash it. But for €29.90 apiece, this mask is about to become this year’s Christmas gift.

The famous anti-covid-19 mask we are telling you about, the Pro Mask by Livinguard has been given the European certification Medical device Class 1. Its active principle is polymer, set on the fabric, concentrating a large density of positive charge and– according to the manufacturer – “when microbes come into contact with these positive charges, the microbial cell, which is negatively charged, is destroyed, leading to permanent destruction of the microorganism.” This layer of polymer – that can destroy viruses and bacteria – enables the mask to remain safe and be worn all day long, several days in a row and up to 30 weeks. You only need to wash it once a week.

Interviewed by Cnews, Livinguard commercial manager Xavier Pailloux explains: “Many people ask us what proves its effectiveness. You must know that our technology is not new and our first masks were already used in Asia in 2017 during the previous flu crisis. But so far, Europe was not really aware of the mask issue”.

Searchers from the Freie Universität Berlin and ITA RWTH Aachen calculated the virus destruction rate to 99,9%.

Even though this reusable mask is already available on sale in many countries and available online on some websites, Livinguard is about to launch the physical sale of the Pro Mask in France in pharmacies and supermarkets in the next couples of weeks. The Swiss company has also designed virus-destroying gloves, perfect for city-dwellers scared of public transit.
