During a long interview with Brut on Friday December 4, French President explained he bet on the summer 2021 to make the French let go off their facemasks.

During his interview with Brut, the French President has answered many questions from teenagers and young adults. Among the topics addressed, Emmanuel Macron obviously spoke about the health crisis hitting the world for months. And when a female teenager asked the head of State when “things will get back to normal”, the president bet on the summer 2021.

Without making promises, Emmanuel Macron said he would like things to go back to normal within a few months. “We will return to normal life as soon as possible” he answered. Yet, he does not want to create false hopes, the reminded that “this virus taught [him] not to make promises”.

Yet, the French President “hope[s] we will still have to live with the virus for a few months, but I hope that by spring or next summer, we will manage to move on”. He adds, “if the Holidays go well, if one complies with health guidelines, if one downloads TousAntiCovid, if one self-isolates for seven days when one is infected, I hope facemasks to be gone by next summer”.

To do so, he reminds it is vital and necessary to comply with the government’s and experts’ recommendations, especially during the Holidays as they will lead to a major mixing of the people.

This Sunday December 6, 2020 invited in the Questions Politiques show by France Inter, France Télévision and Le Monde, Minister delegate for the Economy and the Finances Agnès Pannier-Runacher said she was not able to plan what will happen in the next couple of months but announced: “If one controls this epidemic quickly, I will be the first one delighted to let go of these masks”.
