As worries start to rise because of delivery delays, expected by late January-early February, Pfizer CEO intended to reassure saying doses promised for the first quarter of the year will be delivered in the European Union as planned.

As European Union members are amid their vaccine campaign, several countries said they were worried because delivery delays have been announced for the next three to four weeks.

Therefore, Pfizer laboratory CEO intended to reassure Europe, saying that doses promised in the 1st quarter of the year will be delivered to the European Union as initially planned. After the announcement of the coming delivery delays, “I immediately called the CEO of Pfizer […]. He reassured me that all guaranteed doses of the first quarter will be delivered in the first quarter” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on January 15, 2021.

American Pfizer laboratory said this delivery delay follows modifications in the production process. Modifications that “certain modifications of production processes are required now” and therefore, Pfizre’s “facility in Puurs, Belgium will experience a temporary reduction in the number of doses delivered in the upcoming week” – where the vaccines heading to EU countries come from – the laboratory stated.

Pfizer CEO is “personally on the case on reducing the delay period and to make sure that they will catch up as soon as possible. That was very important to convey the message to him that we urgently need the guaranteed doses within the first quarter”, Mrs. von der Leyen added.
