As France is getting deeper in the third wave, including about 200,000 new Covid cases per week, Spain is also facing a new surge in Covid cases in the country.
Therefore, as in early March, the Spanish data were decreasing, now they are increasing again, including 7,586 new cases in 24h as of Friday March 26, 2021, according to the latest data reported by the Spanish government.
To try and curb the epidemic resurgence, the Spanish authorities announced – this Saturday March 27 – that negative Covid test taken in the past 72 hours will now be compulsory and required to enter the France-Spain land border, starting Tuesday March 30.
“They must have a PCR test (RT-PCR), a TMA test or another type of diagnostic test for SARS-CoV-2 based on equivalent molecular techniques, with a negative result, carried out in the 72 hours prior to arrival”, the Spanish government’s bulletin reads.
Yet, those working in transportation, cross-border workers and people living in the cross-border area (within a 30-km perimeter around their home) are exempt.
