After the proven cases of thrombosis caused by the AstraZeneca vaccine that made French not wanting to be vaccinated anymore, leaving dozens of thousands of vaccination slots vacant, here is another news that could cause the same disarray.
In their weekly Covid vaccine brief, the French National Agency for Medicines announced this Friday April 30, 2021 that 5 cases of myocarditis (inflammation of the heart muscle – Editor’s note) have been detected in France in people vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine, but no causal link has been made between the two events so far.
“The available information does not provide enough elements, at this stage, to conclude that the vaccine played a role, but it nevertheless constitutes a potential signal that needs to be monitored”, the Agency detailed. “The report of myocarditis in young men in Israel after a second dose of the Comirnaty vaccine (the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine – Editor’s note)” that led the regional pharmacovigilance centers (CRPV) and the ANSM monitoring committee “to analyze the relative data again. to cases of myocarditis and myopericarditis collected by CRPVs in France since the start of vaccination”.
These myocarditis cases “will be subject to specific monitoring and will be shared at European level”, but “do not call into question the favorable benefit / risk ratio”, the Agency added.
