As all adults can be vaccinated from May 31, the president of the Vaccination Orientation Council, Alain Fischer, wishes to “vaccinate 90% of the adults” in France. A goal he thinks “potentially” reachable “over the summer”.

France’s vaccination campaign is hitting a milestone. Starting from May 21, all adults can be vaccinated against Covid-19. This is very good news for many people about which Alain Fischer – President of the Vaccination Orientation Council – is happy. From now on, the government’s “Mister vaccine” is setting a goal: “vaccinating 80 to 90% of the adults” in France. He says this goal is reachable “potentially over the summer because there are doses and people to vaccinate”, he explained on May 21 on BFMTV.

But we need our fellow citizens to comply with vaccination. According to opinion polls, there are currently 80% of people willing to be vaccinated. We need to work to make the remaining 20% decrease again”, Fischer said.

He thinks the number of people not willing to be vaccinated against Coronavirus in France “already decreased a lot over the past months. Vaccination is getting closer to being a social standard, we know it is good to be vaccinated, for one’s self and others”, he added.

According to the latest data released this Friday May 21 by Santé Publique France, over 33% of the French have been given at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
