Over the past 24 hours, France has reported 18,000 new Covid-19 contamination cases. This is what Olivier Véran announced to the National Assembly this Tuesday July 20, saying the country has never experienced this before.

Data are very concerning. This Tuesday July 20, 2021, the Health Minister announced 18,000 Covid-19 contamination cases have been reported in only 24 hours in France. “Yesterday, there have been 18,000 contaminations in only 24 hours. It means, the virus spread has increased by 150% in one week”, Olivier Véran claimed. “We have never experienced this, neither with Covid nor the UK variant, the South-African one or the Brazilian one”, he said, worried. “The Delta variant has been spreading for now three weeks, and causing damage in the countries around us […], the virus circulates a lot, it circulates much quicker, it mostly circulates in young people”, he went on.

France has been faced with a major epidemic resurgence for several days because of the Delta variant.

Several departments even decided to instate new health restrictions, while the health pass is to be implemented in many places from Wednesday July 21.
