Authors of the scientific research have compared data from several countries depending on their level in their vaccination campaign, and relied on the effectiveness of the vaccines. And according to the team, 39,1000 hospitalizations in ICU and about 47,400 deaths have been prevented in France from January 1 to August 20, 2021 thanks to vaccination.
A reduction around 57% of death in comparison with data estimated by searchers if no French were vaccinated! “This beneficial effect of vaccination is to increase by the end of the year”, searchers claim, relying on the snowball effect. They then discovered the two mortality curves – with and without vaccination – have started to move apart from the end of March 2021, namely two months before the vaccine campaign started.
“For the first few months, the impact of vaccination was too weak to be measurable and the epidemic growth was strong at the very beginning”, Mircea T. Sofonea, epidemiology and disease evolution lecturer at Montpellier university, one of the main authors of the study, told our peers from Le Parisien.
If their data are peer-reviewed, 67,000 hospitalizations in ICU and 78,000 coronavirus deaths would have been prevented in 2021 if vaccination goes on. As for the World Health Organization, they consider an extra 236,000 deaths in Europe by December 1.
