This year again, France is about to celebrate the Holidays with the coronavirus epidemic in the background. As the country is faced with a swift increase in Covid-19 contaminations, the government gathered again this Friday December 17, 2021, for a health defense council. Following the meeting, PM Jean Castex has addressed to specify the executive’s decisions.
As the Holidays are just around the corner, the government has decided to reinforce some restrictions. As nightclubs are closed for 4 weeks and dancing parties are banned in bars and restaurants, Jean Castex requires the traditional New Year’s Eve events to be cancelled. Therefore, he asks prefects to ban concerts and firework shows on December 31, 2021, in the street. The same applies to wild parties and alcohol-drinking in the street.
Jean Castex also recommends avoid big parties and major gatherings and encourages the French to get tested before reuniting for the Holidays. He also warns about the arrival of a new contamination wave likely to be caused by Omicron.
