On Wednesday May 11, French Health Minister Olivier Véran made an announcement highly anticipated by lots of people: the end of facemask-wearing in public transportation. Starting from Monday May 16, 2022, people can ditch the mask in public transportation (buses, metros, trains, cabs…), as well as in airports and on planes. This is what the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) confirmed in a release.
A relief for many people as the warm temperatures over the past couple of days made facemask-wearing very difficult in closed places.
But then, where is facemask-wearing still compulsory in France? According to the service public website, it reads facemask-wearing is compulsory “in places of health (hospitals, pharmacies, health centers, medical laboratories…) for caregivers, patients and visitors”.
