In late September 2022, there were 48,243 coronavirus cases in France, with a 54% increase in hospitalization – according to Scientific Committee Chairwoman Brigitte Autra. The eighth wave justifies the return of facemask-wearing in means of transportation, especially with the arrival of winter and contagious diseases. For the time being, this is only a recommendation, but the French government could make it compulsory again after it was ditched for six months.

Brigitte Autra stated thy will then “enable to limit infection and transmission better”. For now, they are only reserved for people over 65 years of age, fragile people and their entourages.
