OnHalloween night, cinema le Louxor invites lovers of the horror genre to an unforgettable evening with a doubleBritish Horror program. This exceptional evening will allow you to discover or rediscover two cult films of British horror cinema, The Wicker Man and The Appointment, both starring Edward Woodward.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of The Wicker Man, a classic of British cinema screened in 4K for the occasion. This must-see film, directed by Robin Hardy in 1973, has managed to rank as a "masterpiece of folk horror cinema" according to Bruno Deruisseau of Les Inrocks.
In addition to The Wicker Man, the evening also includes a screening of The Appointment by director Lindsey C. Vickers. Released in 1981, this rare film plunges a family into the torment of an evil, enigmatic entity. Contemporary filmmaker Gaspar Noé says it's "about time French audiences discovered this unknown masterpiece".
The terrifying, mysterious atmosphere of these two British masterpieces is reinforced by the striking presence of actor Edward Woodward in both films. Woodward, a renowned British actor, has delivered memorable performances that have helped enrich the world of British horror.
