  • Guided tours of the historic rooms of the Lycée Henri IV
    September 21 and 22

VISITS TO THE HISTORICAL ROOMS OF THE LYCEE HENRI IV -
Created in 1804 in the buildings of the former Sainte-Geneviève abbey, the Lycée Henri IV is perhaps the only school in France to have retained its medieval layout. In addition to architecture dating back to the 12th century, the school has preserved numerous Baroque decorations. The refectory, cellar, oratory and immense library of the Génovéfains bear witness to the abbey's importance, wealth and influence. The complex, listed as a Monument Historique, has benefited from major restoration work in recent years, particularly the cellar and the library dome, whose fresco, the work of Jean II Restout (1692/1768), has been restored to its former glory and will be on view again during the European Heritage Days.
This guided tour, lasting around an hour, invites you to discover these prestigious sites and evoke their history.
