Heritage Days 2024: visit the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Paris

Have you always dreamed of discovering Qatar? During the Journées du Patrimoine, you can get a taste of it with a free tour of the Qatari embassy, to be experienced this Saturday, September 21, 2024.

Just a stone's throw from theArc de Triomphe, on the Place de l'Etoile, stands a triangular-shaped mansion. TheHôtel Landolfo de Carcano, built in 1867, has been home to theEmbassy of the State of Qatar since 2007. On Saturday, September 21, 2024, this architecturally impressive building will be opening its doors to us, free of charge, for an exceptional visit.

For the 41st edition of the Journées du Patrimoine, the Qatari Embassy invites us to discover not only this private mansion, but also thehistory and culture of the State of Qatar, as well as the major projects being prepared by this country at the heart of current affairs. This Middle Eastern emirate attracts all eyes with its glittering, festive tourist life. But Qatar is also a country with an ancient history and a rich culture.

This guided tour offers us a glimpse of this intriguing country. It also gives us a chance to admire one of the twelve hôtels particuliers known as the Maréchaux. Designed by Jacques-Ignace Hittorff in 1853, these majestic buildings were commissioned byEmperor Napoleon III, who was undertaking major redevelopment work on the Place de l'Étoile.

The Hôtel Landolfo-Carcano was built for Anne-Marie Adèle de Caussin, wife of the Marquis Landolfo de Carcano. Painted ceilings, balconies, Corinthian columns, ornate salons, caryatid fireplaces... Luxury and refinement can be found in every nook and cranny of this private mansion.

It's impossible to miss this discovery during the Journées du Patrimoine. Please note that bookings for this guided tour open at the beginning of September. Places are likely to fill up fast, so get ready to get your ticket.

    The Embassy of the State of Qatar in France opens its doors to the public on the occasion of the European Heritage Days.

    Come and discover the historic salons of the Hôtel Landolfo-Carcano, which has housed the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the French Republic since 2007.

    Located on the Place de l'Étoile opposite the Arc de Triomphe, the hotel was designed by architects Jacques Ignace Hittorff and Charles Rohault de Fleury and completed in 1867. It was listed as a historic monument in 1976.
    Built during the Second Empire for Anne-Marie Adèle Caussin, known as "Madame de Cassin", the hotel was named after the Marquis Landolfo Carcano, whom Madame de Cassin married in 1889. The building reflects the architectural eclecticism and decorative richness of the period.
    Registration:
    Visits are subject to compulsory registration via a registration link, which will be active on September 10, 2024 at 10 a.m.
    Security measures:
    - Bag checks at the entrance, only small bags are allowed. Please note that there are no changing rooms, so motorcycle helmets, suitcases and luggage are not allowed.
    - No access to sanitary facilities.
    - The site is not accessible to people with reduced mobility.
