The Journées du Patrimoine is one of the highlights of September ! During this major cultural event, many of our heritage treasures reveal their secrets through a program of visits, events and workshops, often free of charge.
In Paris and throughout theÎle-de-France region, there are countless venues taking part in this event. Museums, monuments, châteaux, churches, or even places that are usually closed to the public, there's plenty to do to find a program to suit your interests, while filling up on cultural goodies.
Looking for something new? Well, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days ) offer a host of exceptional tours every year. Several ministries take part in the ballet, much to the delight of those curious enough to take advantage of this rare opportunity.
Located in the Latin Quarter, in the heart of theformer École Polytechnique buildings, the Pavillon Boncourt currently houses the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research. You'll then have the opportunity to enjoy the special program that awaits you there for the 41st edition of the Journées du Patrimoine on the weekend of September 21 and 22, 2024.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Research opens to the public the Pavillon Boncourt, the grounds occupied by the École Polytechnique before its transfer to Palaiseau in 1976. The new Ministry of Research moved in when it was created in 1981. Today, the site houses the services of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research. The Descartes site, the heart of the visit, includes the Pavillon Boncourt, the Hôtel of the Minister of Higher Education and Research, the garden, and her office, whose windows overlook the social anthropology library founded by Claude Lévi-Strauss at the Collège de France.
Discover the Descartes site, a place steeped in history and a witness to the formation of the university.
This ancestral site has in turn been home to the Collège de Navarre and the Ecole Polytechnique, welcoming students and renowned scholars since the Middle Ages....
A fascinating 40-minute documentary on the history of the Sainte-Geneviève mountain.
