TheHôtel d'Évreux, better known as the "Palais de l'Élysée", is one of the most popular sites for the Journées du Patrimoine. This year, for the 40th edition of the event, the establishment welcomes you on September 16 and 17, 2023, for never-before-seen tours of the Republic's goldsmiths.
Already considered"the most beautiful pleasure house around Paris" in the 18th century, the Hôtel d'Évreux was successively owned by the Comte d'Évreux, Louis XV and Napoleon, before being definitively destined to become the Residence of the Presidents of the Republic by decree in 1848.
A self-guided tour of the buildings allows us to discover the Hôtel d'Évreux and its 1889 layout (nothing has really changed since then, apart from the installation of electricity and running water). From the Salon Murat, where the Council of Ministers meets every Wednesday, to the Salle des Fêtes, designed to host state dinners for the 1889 Universal Exhibition, we're transported to the heart of power.
The visit then continues into the intimacy of the premises, inside the office of the President of the Republic, located in the Salon Doré decorated by Jean-Louis Godon in 1861 for Empress Eugénie. The courtyard and gardens are also open to visitors. The rest of the program includes virtual reality, a film and a display of the President's fleet of cars. Please note that reservations are required, via the Élysée website. Tickets open on Thursday, September 7 at 6pm.
On September 16 and 17, for the European Heritage Days, the Palais de l'Élysée opens its doors to visitors.
